James Nelson Waters, 63, of Rt2, Markesan, died May 1, 1995, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 17, 1931 in the Town of Shield near Montello, a son of the late Nelson and Magdalen Bednareck Waters. He was educated in Rosendale and Ripon, and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1955-57. Jim married Lois Henning on August 29, 1953. He farmed most of his life in the Markesan area. Jim was an avid sportsman of hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and was a board member of the Fairwater Rod & Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; 3 daughters, Tamara Waters-Thiel of Berlin, Tracy Vossekuil of Columbus and her special friend Al Kraft, and Raechel (Chad) Dornfeld of Cambria; 1 son, James L. Waters of Oshkosh; and 5 grandchildren, Stephanie, Jon, Tyler, Kaitlyn and Sydney. Additional survivors include 1 sister, Alice (Arvin) Krueger of Pinole, CA; 2 brothers, Bernard (Louise) Waters, George Waters and Leonard (Josephine) Waters, all of Ripon; 1 sister-in-law, Dorothy Waters of Ripon; several nieces, nephews and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 P.M. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. The Reverend Eric Burnard will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
