Sgt. James Frederick Young, age 34, of Aurora, CO, passed away on Friday, July 6, 1951, at his home.
Sgt. Young was born June 30, 1917, in the Town of Green Lake, WI, the son of James and Ella (Wilkes) Young. He was educated in the Green Lake County Rural Schools and graduated from Ripon High School in 1936. Sgt. Young served our country in the United States Air Force as a gunnery instructor at Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, CO. On September 7, 1947, he married Mary Jane Canady. Sgt. Young was a member of the Ripon Air Force Corps Reserves. Staff Sergeant Young was the recipient of the Air Medal, Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Badge with a cluster, European-Africa Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, an American Theatre of Defense Ribbon and a Good Conduct Metal.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; two step-children, Howard and Gwendolyn; his mother, Mrs. Ella Young of the Town of Green Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Leslie Ninneman of the Town of Green lake; Mrs. Edmund J. Kuharske of Princeton; one brother, Robert K. Young of Oshkosh and one niece and one nephew.
Friends may call on Wednesday, July 11, 1951, after 12:00 noon at Butzin Funeral Home in Ripon.
Funeral Service for Sgt. James Young will be held on Thursday, July 12, 1951, at Butzin Funeral Home with The Reverend E.E. Scheiler officiating. Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Ripon.
