Janet A. Blazer, age 78, of Green Lake, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton, WI.
Janet was born at noon on August 9, 1942, in Green Lake, WI, the daughter of F.J. Schwartz and Beryl (Kuharske) Wendt, who were the owners of Tuscumbia Country Club, Wendts Variety Store, and several other local businesses. Janet married Terry W. Blazer on May 30, 1991. She had no siblings or children.
Janet was a 1960 graduate of Green Lake High School. After graduation, she went to work for Judge David C. Willis, in the capacity of Register of Probate for Green Lake County. She held that position for forty-two years until her retirement in 2003, and cherished the friendships she made with the great people in law enforcement, etc.
Her interests were varied. She loved her home and flower gardens, music, animals, cooking, the Green Bay Packers, and flying with her husband, a former corporate pilot. She appreciated everything in nature and could find beauty in the simplest things. One of her favorite pastimes was writing mystery novels for her own amusement. She cherished memories of the old Green Lake of the 1950s and 1960s, before the building boom encroached on the sprawling farms and wooded areas around the lake. She was proud to be the sixth generation of her family to live in Green Lake, the first of whom settled here in the 1830s.
Janet was survived by Terry, her husband of 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Schwartz and Beryl Wendt.
A private graveside service for Janet will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake, WI, with Reverend Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. Memorials in Janets name may be directed to: Green Lake Area Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 86, Green Lake, WI 54941.
