Janet H. Kohl, age 88, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Markesan Resident Home.
She was born on August 16, 1923, in Staten Island, NY, the daughter of Ole and Clara (Olsen) Hansen. Janet graduated from Whitefish Bay High School and went on to graduate from Ripon College. After graduation, Janet became an Airline Stewardess for Eastern Airlines. In 1946, she married Fred W. Kohl, Jr. in Milwaukee, WI. Later in life, Janet was employed as a retail clerk in the book store at Ripon College. She enjoyed reading, music and spending time with family and friends. . She also enjoyed being a member of Ripon’s Women’s Study Club, various Bridge Clubs, BZ and her long time affiliation with the First Congregational Church of Ripon, UCC.
Survivors include two sons, William (Cathy) Kohl of Agua Dulce, CA and their son, Alec Kohl and James Kohl of Green Lake, WI and his daughter, Portia Kohl of Boulder, CO. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, David F. Kohl; brother, Howard Hansen and mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Fred Kohl, Sr.
A memorial service will be held on December 9th, at 3:30pm, at the First Congregational Church, 220 Ransom St., Ripon, WI. Reverend Greg Smith will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon, WI. A memorial is being established in Janet’s honor.
