Jean Catherine Adams, age 71, of Green Lake, WI, passed away from her battle with cancer on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at her home.
Jean was born November 29, 1949 in Fond du Lac, WI, the youngest daughter of Elmer A. and Gertrude M. (Halfman) Kohlman. Jean graduated from St. Mary Springs in 1968 and then attended Cardinal Stritch University where she graduated with a bachelors degree in fine arts in 1972.
On March 23, 1974, she married Dennis R. Adams in Milwaukee, WI. In September of 1978, they purchased a bar in Green Lake, WI called Spikes Bar. In 1984, Jean and Dennis changed the name to Adams Rib; which continues to be run by family. Jean devoted her life to taking care of her kids, husband and restaurant.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Rachel (Andy) Nitz of Markesan, WI; son, Josh (Jenna) Adams of Elgin, IL; loving grandmother of Danielle Nitz of LaCrosse, WI, Abagail Nitz of Green Lake, WI, Cassady and Kiera Nitz of Markesan, WI, and Brayden Adams of Elgin, IL; brother, Terry (Kathy) Kohlman; sisters, Nancy (John) Furr, Victoria Kohlman and Patty Kohlman; sister-in-law, Marleen (Bob) Christiansen; and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Dennis Adams; father and mother-in-law, Raymond J. Adams and Bernice L. Adams Ansay; and brother and sister-in-law, Larry and JoAnn Adams.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Adam's Rib Restaurant, 538 Mill St., Green Lake, WI 54941, starting at 2:00 pm for those who would like to avoid a larger crowd, and the party portion of the celebration begins at 4:00 pm, with live music at 6:00 pm. A memorial is being established in her name. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice nurse Amanda for her wonderful care in Jeans final days.
