Jeanette E. Williams, age 86, of Ripon, WI, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 30, 2000, at her home.
She was born November 9, 1913, in Fedora, South Dakota, a daughter to Andrew G. and Bernice M. (Tanzy) Williams. Jeanette was a 1940 graduate of Milwaukee State, and then taught third grade in Sheboygan from 1940-42. During the war she worked in the Philadelphia Arsenal and then moved to Ripon in December of 1945. She worked at Van Metres Chevrolet & Oldsmobile until 1948, when she and Herb Wesner owned & operated Wesners Appliance until 1964. Jeanette then worked from 1964 1978 at Speed Queen and from 1978 1983, at Ripon Federal Savings & Loan. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ripon and Womens Fellowship and was the Treasurer and trustee of the church. She also was a member of Ripon Womens Club and Study Club.
Survivors include her brother, James (Phyllis) Williams of AZ; sister, Beth Aggerbeck of CA; nieces, Jean (Charles) Vail of CO and Robin (Bob) Gearhart of AZ; nephews, Jack (Julie) Van Metre of WI, Bob (Barbara) Van Metre of WI, Dick (Bonnie) Williams of MN, Mike (Jane) Williams of MN and Mark (Cheri) Williams of KS; 13 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Edna Van Metre of Ripon; three brothers-in-law, Herman Ebsen, W.D. Van Metre and Les Aggerbeck.
A memorial service will be Friday, May 12, 2000, at 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church in Ripon with Reverend Debora Hillgartner officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Garden of the Cross in Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in her name to the First Congregational Church.
