Jeanne (Betty) Elizabeth Kohnke, age 97, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at her home at Kindred Hearts of Green Lake.
Jeanne was born on July 27, 1918, in Green Lake, WI, the daughter of Loy and Mae (Palmer) Burling. She graduated from Green Lake High School in 1936. In 1938, she married Victor Kohnke in Dubuque, IA. Jeanne was in the insurance business with her brother, Leonard, and was the first woman Registrar for the Green Lake County Register of Deeds. She was a member of The Federated Church of Green Lake.
Survivors include a special friend, Carl Mapps of King, WI; her brother, Hugh (Pat) Burling of Grafton, WI and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Loy and Mae Burling; her husband, Victor Kohnke; brothers, Walter Burling and Leonard Burling; sisters, Vivian Chapel, Marilyn Burling, Charlene Adams, Loyce Ann Thrall, and Dolores Broderick.
Visitation for Jeanne will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 10 – 11:00 am at The Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI 54941.
Memorial Service for Jeanne will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 11:00 am at The Federated Church of Green Lake. Reverend Paul Yoder will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Dartford Cemetery in the City of Green Lake. Memorials may be directed to The Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., P.O. Box 471, Green Lake, WI 54941.
