Jerome E. Jerry Gehrke, age 70, of Oshkosh, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, on Tuesday, January 6, 2009.
Jerry was born on December 29, 1938 in Oshkosh, WI, the son of Herbert and Lucile (Radtke) Gehrke. He graduated from Oshkosh High School and went into the army. After his discharge, Jerry worked for Paine Lumber and then went on to work for the City of Oshkosh as a transit employee. Jerry married Sally Ninneman in 1966 in Ripon, WI. He was known for his love and gift of music. Being a musician, he played with The Black Knights, VIPS, and The Clarence Fauske Band. Later in his life, Jerry also played for various nursing homes and different events. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, playing golf and tinkering with things.
Survivors include his wife Sally Gehrke of Oshkosh, WI; one daughter Kelly Markofski of Oshkosh, WI; two grand daughters Morganne and Nicole Markofski of Oshkosh; brother-in-law Lee (Vicki) Ninneman of Cottage Grove, WI; and his cat Misty. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Duane Gehrke.
Visitation for Jerome Gehrke will be held from 1-1:30 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
Funeral service for Jerome Gehrke will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Lee J. Ninneman will be officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in the City of Oshkosh. A memorial has been established.
