Jessie Merkey

Mrs. Jessie Claire Merkey, 81, of Willowbrook Apts, Ripon, died Saturday, April 22, 1989, at Ripon Memorial Hospital as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born November 22, 1907, in Fond du Lac to Fred and Mabel Young Lambert. On May 4, 1929, she married Herman G. Merkey. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1972.

Mrs. Merkey was educated in Ripon and resided in the Ripon area all her life. She worked at the Ripon Knitting Works and was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn (Glenn) Schimmel of Fairwater; two grandchildren, Greg Schimmel of Fairwater; two grandchildren, Greg Schimmel of Fond du Lac and Jayne Moodie of Sun Prairie; three great-grandchildren, Scott, Laura Jayne and Benjamin; one brother, Robert H. Lambert of Ripon; one sister, Margaret Prellwitz of Fairwater; one sister-in-law, Loretta Lambert of Ripon and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 25, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon. The Reverend Joel Diemer will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon
