Jill Zeratsky Carver, age 62, of Green Lake, WI, died at home on October 28, 1996.
She was the daughter of Betty G. and John A. Zeratsky and was born March 25, 1934, in La Crosse. Jill graduated from Downer Seminary in Milwaukee and attended Ripon College. She lived most of her adult life in Green Lake. She will be especially remembered as a good mother and a good friend. She was a secretary and a member of the board of directors of both the National Rivet and Mfg. Co. and the Shaler Co., of Waupun, WI. Jill was a founder and the original teacher of the Green Lake Sailing School. She was an active member of the Green Lake Yacht Club and sailed competitively for many years. Jill was one of the countrys leading amateur mycologists, having studied mushrooms on all of the worlds continents, most recently in Antarctica. In August, she was awarded the North American Mycological Associations Presidents Service Award. She was a very active supporter of Special Olympics, serving as a coach and chaperone and assisting at summer camp on a regular basis. She provided a home and a loving and warm environment for a number of young people who needed a fresh start.
Her survivors include her daughters, Debi Carver Smith (Ed) of Corpus Christi, Texas; Jib Christensen of Whitewater, WI; her mother, Betty G. Zeratsky of Green Lake; Jack Dunahee with whom she made a home for many years; two brothers, J. Gibbons Zeratsky (Katy) and Andrew A. Zeratsky (Debbie) both of Green Lake; nieces and nephews and a grandniece and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
A memorial service will be held on October 31, 1996, 11:30 am at St. Peters Episcopal Church, Ripon, WI with a reception after the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Green Lake County Special Olympics, 222 Leffert St. Berlin, WI 54923.
