Joan Marie Bruendl, age 84, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon.
Joan was born January 16, 1931, in Fond du Lac, WI, daughter of Herbert and Myrtle (Abendroth) Henning. After graduating from Ripon High School in 1948, she went to work for Van Metre Chevrolet and Oldsmobile, Inc. for 17 years as an automotive accountant. On October 15, 1955, Joan married Donald Bruendl in Ripon. Then she and her husband owned and operated Bruendl Pontiac Buick, Inc. for the next eight years. She then went to work for Ripon Ford Mercury, Inc. until her retirement in 1998.
Joan was a former member of Red Hat Society, Lucky Strike Bowling League, Ladies Day Golf Tuscumbia and the Business and Professional Womans Club. She was also an active member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, singing in the Senior Choir and the pianist for the Junior Choir. Joan was an accomplished pianist, playing for all activities in school and church. She also played the trumpet. Joan was the first women to serve on the Board of Trustees and a member of the Priscilla Circle of United Methodist Women. She loved to play bridge and belonged to several clubs. Joan also loved flowers, birds and all animals (especially cats).
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Donald Bruendl of Green Lake, WI; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Henning of New Glarus, WI; two nephews, Kurt (Deborah) Henning and their children of Hampton, VA and Chad Henning of New Glarus, WI; niece, Renee (Tom) Aeberhard and Kuenzi of Monticello, WI and close friends Jane and Shane Kollin of Ripon, WI. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Myrtle Henning; in-laws, Joseph and Marcella Bruendl and brother, Kenneth Henning.
A private family interment will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Garden of the Cross Cemetery in Ripon. Pastor Joshua Pegram will officiate. A memorial is being established in Joans name.
