Joan L. Eick, age 67, of Ripon, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, October 19, 2000, at Ripon Medical Center.
She was born January 9, 1933, in Ripon, a daughter to the late Elmer and Lillian (Welk) Burger. She graduated from Ripon High School, and in August 1954 she married Eugene Eick in Ripon. She had been a secretary for most of her life, and for over 30 years had worked at Ripon College. Joan enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and football in general, as well as reading, knitting, and her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl (Ken) Kartes, Ripon;
grandson, Tom Eick, of Ripon; 1 brother, Roy (Doris) Burger of Madison; 2 sisters, LaVerne (Harold) Toussaint and Carol McElroy, both of Ripon; 1 brother-in-law, Donald St. George of Milwaukee; 2 aunts; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Ruth, Ethel and Eileen, and brother-in-law, Robert McElroy.
Funeral service for Joan L. Eick will be Sunday, October 22, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with Reverend David Busker officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. According to her wishes, there will be a closed casket. Interment will be in Bluffton Cemetery, Town of Brooklyn. A Memorial will be established.
