Joan E. Winton Grady

Joan E. (Winton) Grady, 91, of Ripon, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 after a short convalesce at Eden Meadows, Oshkosh.

Joan was born in Evanston, IL on June 18, 1932, the daughter of Hamilton R. Winton and Lola S. (Batterson) Winton. She married Wilson K. Grady on June 25, 1954 in Highland Park, IL. Joan graduated from Northwestern University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the national sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Education was her life-long passion and she received much pleasure from her chosen career teaching mainly third and fourth grade in Northbrook, IL District #28. She retired in 1994 before moving to the Green Lake area. 

Joan was an avid reader, gardener and enjoyed long walks throughout the area. She was a longtime member of the Green Lake County HCE and several area book clubs.

Survivors include her three sons, Wilson K. (Merrill) Grady, Jr. of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Scott W. (Carolyn) Grady of Appleton, WI, and Michael K. (Melissa) Grady of Gurnee, IL; two grandchildren, Bradford (Kristen) Grady and Tyler (Sanaya) Grady; and one great-grandchild, Sophia Grady; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilson K. Grady; her parents; and her two brothers. 

Per her wishes there will be no services at this time. Memorials may be given to Caestecker Public Library Foundation, PO Box 278, Green Lake, WI 54941, in Joan’s name.
