Joanne Ruth Balken, age 78, of Fond du Lac, WI, went to be with our Lord and Savior in Heaven on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, with her loving family by her side.
Joanne was born January 18, 1936, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Harold and Jean (Ramsay) Carlblom. She graduated from Roosevelt High School, and went on to get her degree from North Central Bible College, in Minneapolis, MN. On June 1, 1957, Joanne was united in marriage to Richard Paul Balken at the Minneapolis Gospel Tabernacle. She was a devoted wife and mother and found great pride in being a homemaker to her family. She was also a wonderful pastors wife and served many wonderful missionaries in her home. Joanne was a member of Lighthouse Christian Church in Fond du Lac.
Survivors include her husband, Pastor Richard P. Balken, Fond du Lac, WI; her children: Eydie (Richard) Liebelt, Fond du Lac, WI, Brent (Melonie) Balken, Fond du Lac, WI, Byron (June) Balken, Fond du Lac, WI, Heidi (Corey) Guell, Eden, WI, and Christopher (Arita) Balken, Sun Prairie, WI; sisters: Patsy (Robert) Pearson, Minneapolis, MN, Marjorie (Robert) Liebelt, Fond du Lac, WI, and Charlaine Ramsay, Minneapolis, MN; twenty-one grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Jean Carlblom; one grandchild, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Joanne will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Christian Church, 401 S. National Ave, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
A celebration of Joannes Life will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Christian Church, with Pastor Tim Carlton and Pastor Timothy Keene officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at Estabrooks Cemetery in Fond du Lac, WI. A memorial is being established.
The family would like to thank all the great nurses at Agnesian Hospice Hope for all their loving care and compassion they gave in taking care of Joanne and her family.
