Joel Cyril Velie, age 77, died Monday, November 22, 1999, at his home in the Town of Ripon.
He was born December 13, 1921, in New London, a son to Cyril and Lila (Christian) Velie. He attended school in Oshkosh, and served in the US Navy on the Asiatic Fleet Destroyer in the South China Patrol during WWll.
Joel worked in maintenance at Advocap, Inc. prior to moving to Ripon. He was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, Ripon.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Linda Moreland (Gary Liefke) and Norma (Michael) Heiden, of Ripon; 1 son, Christian (Cynthia) Velie of Waupun; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, James
Velie of Oshkosh; and 4 sisters, Lois of IL, and Eunice, Evon and Lucille, of Oshkosh. His parents and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 24, 1999, from 11 AM until 1 PM at the chapel of Greenlawn Memorial Park, Town of Neenah. Funeral service will be at 1 PM at the chapel with the Rev. James D. Mohr officiating. Interment will follow at the cemetery.
