John “Dobber” William Dahms, Jr. age 63, of Ripon, WI, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 21, 2001, at Parkview Care Center after a week’s stay.
He was born April 12, 1937, in Ripon, the son of John and Marcella (Ryerson) Dahms, Sr. John graduated from Berlin High School and for 35 years had been warehouse foreman for Green Giant in Ripon. He had lived in the Ripon area all his life, and was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, Duck’s Unlimited, and the National Rifle Association. John enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved life in general.
Survivors include his aunts, Loretta Dorsch, Marie Ryerson and Sophie Ryerson; uncle, Donald (Dorothy) Ryerson, all of Ripon; numerous cousins; and good friends, the Willi Gillen Family, Donald and Caroline Retzlaff and Jim and Bonnie Howell. He was preceded in death by his parents and in 1997, his brother, Donald.
Funeral service will be 11 am on Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Reverend Harley C.W. Tretow will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 5 – 7:00 pm and Saturday from 10 – 11:00 am all at the funeral home. Interment will be in Nepeuskun Cemetery, Town of Nepeuskun. Memorials may be given in his name to the American Diabetes Association or Our Saviour’s United of Church of Christ.
