John "Jake" Woeckner

January 10, 1921 — December 22, 1992

John “Jake” William Woeckner, age 71, of Green Lake, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 1992, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

He was born January 10, 1921, in Neenah, the son of Loren and Ada (Bahrke) Woeckner. He was educated in South Milwaukee, and was a graduate of LaCrosse University and Colorado A&M. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1943- 1946. On November 6, 1972, he married Sally Ladwig Silloway. Jake was a teacher and was athletic director at Green Lake High School until his retirement. At the present time, he was a bartender at Alfred’s Supper Club in Green Lake. He was a Founding Member and past president and currently secretary-treasurer of the Antique Snowmobile Club of America and was Founding Director of the Wisconsin Snowmobile Club. He taught snowmobile safety courses in Green Lake for many years. He was a past member of the Green Lake Lions Club, member of the Federated Church of Green Lake, member of the Green Lake Legion Post #306 and member of the Disabled American Veterans. Jake was an avid Packer fan.

In addition to his wife, Sally, he is survived by three daughters, Mary Jo Woeckner of Venice, FL, Joni (Lawrence) Perillo of Palatine, IL and Barbara Reiser of Princeton; one step-son, Robert (Joan) SIlloway of Ripon; one step-daughter, Lori (Jerry) Silloway Del Cueto of Austin, TX; his father, Loren Woeckner of Princton; seven grandchildren; and one brother, William (Ruth) Woeckner of Cibolo, TX. His mother preceded him in death.

Memorial Services for Jake Woeckner will be held Sunday, December 27, 1992, at 1:00 p.m. at the Federated Church of Green Lake. The Reverend Kent Meyer will officiate. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Green Lake Legion Post in his name.
