John Kehlenbrink

John Henry Kehlenbrink, age 72, of Town of Brooklyn, WI, died Sunday, April 6, 1997 at his home.

He was born September 1, 1924, in Milwaukee, a son of the late Alfred and Margaret (Schroeder) Kehlenbrink. He was confirmed on April 10, 1938, and later graduated from Nathan Hale High School in West Allis on January 27, 1943. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from May 3, 1943 until May 4, 1946, as a Staff Sgt in Company A 16th Tank Battalion Armored Division. After the war he married the former Dorothy Zick on September 11, 1948, at St. John Lutheran Church in Burlington. John joined the West Allis Fire Dept and held the rank of Lieutenant, retiring in 1980, and moving to the Green Lake-Ripon area. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon and served on the Board of Trustees. John enjoyed hunting and fishing, and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two children, Patricia Herrmann and Kenneth Kehlenbrink; two grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Herrmann; two brothers, Alfred (Julia) Kehlenbrink of Winston Salem, NC and George (Beverly) Kehlenbrink of Westfield; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for John Kehlenbrink will be Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at 7 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with Pastor Bryan Fritsch officiating.

Visitation will be 4 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at 11 am at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, Messiah Lutheran Church or Hospice. Special thanks to Berlin Hospital Home Care and Hospice Hope.
