John Michael Kies, age 55, passed away on December 20th, 2022, in Scottsdale, AZ.
John had a real love for adventure, lived life it to the fullest, was known for his generosity, fun spirit, and will forever be in our hearts. He came into this world on July 23rd, 1967 at Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington, WI, to Donald Elmer and Linda Marie Kies and was delivered by their beloved family physician Dr. Robert Dorr. After graduating from Random Lake High School he enlisted in the US Army and served with distinction as a tank driver in the 1st Cavalry Division during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. During his service he was stationed in Germany and eventually in Texas. After the military John went to work with the State of Wisconsin Correctional System where he retired from on August 1st 2020 after 28 years. Shortly after retirement, John moved to Scottsdale, AZ where he fell in love with the southwest and being close to his sister and her family as well as his mother who lives there seasonally.
John is survived by his son Aiden Kies who lives in Ripon, WI, his mother Linda Kies of Random Lake, sister Brenda Kies, brother-in-law Karl Meyer and nieces Shayne and Emma. John is further survived by his brother Ronald Kies and nephews Tyler and Owen. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Kies.
Visitation for John will be held from 12:30-2:00 pm, Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
A memorial service for John will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the funeral home. Final salute and full military honors, along the Dept. of Corrections, will conclude the service at the funeral home. A gathering at The Public House immediately following.
