John P. Meier, age 88, of Ripon, WI, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Ripon Medical Center in Ripon.
John was born on March 16, 1924, in Battle Ground, WA, the son of Carl and Barbara (Lorsung) Meier. He graduated from Battle Ground High School and went on to serve our country in the United States Navy from 1942 – 1945 as an Aviation Machinist. On February 3, 1945, John married LaVerne Young. He worked as a self-employed carpenter in Eagle River. John was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon and American Legion.
Survivors include his four children, John Meier Jr. of MI, Holly Meier of Waupun, WI, Larry (Julie) Meier of Eagle River, WI and Heidi (Rick) Blair of Ripon, WI; grandchildren, Betsy (John) Steenbergen, Molly Meier, John Meier, Jenny (Ryan) Kerola and Jake Blair. John was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation for John Meier will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012, from 9:30 – 10:30 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 415 E. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Mass of Christian Burial for John Meier will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012, at 10:30 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 415 E. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971. Reverend Robert A. Fictum will officiate. Inurnment will take place on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. Memorials may be directed to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon.
