John Mickle Jr

John Lewis Mickle, Jr., age 78, of Fond du Lac, passed away Friday, October 30, 1998, at home.

He was born October 4, 1920, in Fond du Lac, the son of the late Gladys Cochrane Mickle and John Lewis Mickle, Sr. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1938. He married Norma Lee Dugger Mickle on August 15, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and she survives. He was a Lt. in the US Navy serving as a flight instructor during WWII. Following his tour of duty in the military service, he received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1947. John served as both a Cub Scout Leader and a Boy Scout Master in Crystal Lake, IL. He was• also a leader for the high school youth group in the First Methodist Church of Crystal Lake. John enjoyed playing bridge and being on the company golf league when he worked for Mercury Marine. He retired from Mercury Marine in 1987, where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer.

He was the father of Judith Ann Van Swol and Victoria Lynn Gestring of
Indiana,. also of Patricia Jean Leitner of Nevada, John Douglas Mickle of Illinois, and
Lee Ann Sherwood of Oshkosh. He also had 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren,
and many nieces and nephews. He is the brother of Barbara Jean (Robert) Prellwitz of
Ripon, Dr. Kenneth Cochrane (Jean) Mickle of Green Bay, and the late Gail Carol
Rohloff of California.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 2, 1998, at 10:00 AM at the
Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with the Reverend David Busker officiating.
Interment will be in the Green Lake Center Cemetery in the Town of Green Lake.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 until 6 PM at the funeral home.
