John D. Miller, age 72, of Ripon, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, with his family at his side.
John was born on June 13, 1936, in Fond du Lac, the son of Wendell and Rose (Heider) Miller. He graduated from Goodrich High School in 1955. In 1958, he married Barbara Brandstetter at St. Marys Church, in Fond du Lac. John worked as a management supervisor for Green Giant Container Division, in Ripon, for 23 years, and Crown Cork & Seal Company, in Oshkosh, for 15 years. John enjoyed life. His grandchildren were his joy. He was an avid golfer, bowler, card player, horse shoe player, fisherman, hunter, and loved his Packers and Brewers. He was able to celebrate 50 years of marriage with Barb, and his children. He was very proud to have his closest companion, Woody by his side. John was a mentor and loving man to all; a father and best friend to his daughter, sons, daughters-in-law, and son-in-law. John will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Ripon; daughter, Betsy (Matt) Amend of Markesan; sons, Jeff (Kris) Miller of Ripon, Steve (Kaye) Miller of Wichita, KS and Arthur Miller of Yakima, WA; the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Pasha Miller, Cory Miller, Colin Weber, David Miller, Avary Finch, Morgan and Jackson Amend, and Athena Miller; sisters, Dorothy Thorpe and Joyce (Conrad) Schneider both of Fond du Lac; sister-in-law, Joan Sievert and brother-in-law, Walter (Butch) Brandstetter; and his buddy, Woody. John is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Robert Miller; brother, Frank Miller and sisters, Jean Leitner and Betty Mischo.
Visitation for John Miller will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2008, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 415 E. Fond du Lac St. Ripon.
Memorial Service for John Miller will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church with Reverend Robert A. Fictum officiating.
