John Thomas Mullowney, age 80, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Fountain View Care Center.
John was born on July 7, 1933, in Mauston, WI, the son of John P. and Margaret (McMillan) Mullowney. He graduated from Tomah High School. John enlisted in 1951 went on to serve our country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. In 1956, he was united in marriage to Donna M. Buschman, in Camp Douglas. John worked and retired as an auctioneer and also was a manager for Equity Livestock. He was a member of American Legion Post 133 for 56 years; and a life member of VFW Post 5278.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Mullowney, Ripon, WI; sons, John P. (Cindy) Mullowney, Green Lake, WI, and Dan D. Mullowney, Ripon, WI; sister, Patricia Ristow, La Crosse, WI; sister, Mary Mullowney (Dennis), Oakdale, MN; grandchildren, Patrick A. Mullowney (Carla) Ripon, WI, Matthew J. Mullowney, Ripon, WI, T.J. Mullowney (son of JoDee), Ripon, WI; great-grandchildren, Preston and Alyssa Mullowney, Ripon, WI; sister-in-law, Marie Whitener, San Bruno, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and numerous brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
A private family Prayer Service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI 54971. Reverend Robert A. Fictum will officiate. Inurnment will take place later in the spring at Garden of the Cross Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, 660 E. Mason Street, Suite 200, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
