John C. Pionke, age 92, of 50 Wolverton Ave, Ripon, formerly of Pickett, passed away Sunday morning, March 18, 2007 at Fountain View Care Center, in Ripon with his family at his side.
John was born on May 7, 1914 in Plainfield, the son of Joseph and Frances (Skoine) Pionke. He attended Plainfield Schools, and worked on his own farm in the Pickett area for 48 years. On April 21, 1937 he married Mildred Hilsberg in Arpin. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on East Fond du Lac St. in Ripon. John served in the Peace Time Army the Civilian Conservation Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Ripon, and their 10 children; Mary Jean (Robert) Florek of Marquette, MI, Charles (Rosemary) Pionke of Eldorado, WI, Charlotte Yearwood of Oshkosh, WI, Ethel Zimmerman of Kansas City, MO, Dennis (Jean) Pionke of Portage, WI, Darwin (Linda) Pionke of Weyauwega, WI, Patricia (Al) Richter of Lakeland, FL, John (Debra) Pionke of Rosendale, WI, Judith Wyant of Fond du Lac, WI, and Diane (Herman) Berndt of Pickett, WI, 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren. Also surviving John Pionke are 3 brothers; Henry Pionke of Menomonee Falls, WI, Louis (Bev) Pionke of Sussex, WI, Daniel (Mary) Pionke of Menomonee Falls, WI, 1 sister, Gertrude Schueller of Marshfield, WI, 1 brother-in-law, Frank Wojcik of Arpin, WI, and 1 sister-in-law, Arlene Pionke of Jackson, WI. John was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons; James and Kenneth Pionke, 2 sisters, Isabelle Steeps, Helen Wojcik, and 2 brothers; William and Dennis Pionke.
Visitation for John C. Pionke will be held on Sunday, March 25th, 2007 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with a Rosary to be held at 4:30 pm and the visitation from 5-8:00 pm. There will also be a visitation held on Monday, March 26th, 2007 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on East Fond du Lac St. in Ripon from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
A Mass of Christian Burial for John C. Pionke will be held on Monday, March 26, 2007 at 10:00 am at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on East Fond du Lac St. in Ripon, with Reverend Robert A. Fictum officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Fountain View Care Center for their loving care and the kindness they gave to John during his 4 years there with them.
