John H. Wilson, age 89, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 1990, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon.
He was born March 23, 1901, in Ripon, a son to Frank and Ann Harris Wilson. He never married. Mr. Wilson was educated in Ripon. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from November 5, 1942, until February 23, 1943. Following the war, he was a trapeze artist for the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus. After several years of employment at Speed Queen in Ripon, he became a public relations man for the Baraboo Circus and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Baraboo Circus Museum. He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ripon and was past Mayor of Ripon from 1956 to 1960. He was past commander of Brown-Parfitt Post #43.
Survivors include four cousins, Robert Shields, of LaGrange, IL, Alice Seaver of Nashville, TN, Georgene Bamfeld of Boston, MA, and Marion Cooley of Ripon.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 28, 1990, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
Funeral Services for Mr. Wilson will be Thursday, March 29, 1990, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ripon. The Reverend Robert J.C. Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Ripon.
