Jose Reyes, age 60, of Markesan, WI, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 15, 1939, in Weslaco, TX, a son to Pedro and Benita (Vargas) Reyes. He received his educated in Weslaco. Jose has lived in Wisconsin the past 45 years, and most of the time had worked for Kelly-Albert Produce of Markesan, but this past year had worked at Glen Oak Lumber and Milling, Inc in Montello. On November 16, 1957, he married Jean Dummer in Waupun.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Reyes; mother, Benita Reyes; five daughters, Sue A. Snyder (Brent) of Markesan, Rosemary A. Pollock (Russel) of Brandon, Jean M. Kirst (Rusty) of Markesan, Julie A. Holmes (Jon) of Waukesha and Judy A. Holmes of San Jose, CA; three sons, Jim J. Reyes of Kaukauna, Joe J. Reyes (Sue) of Livermore, CA and Richard J. Reyes (Megan) of Reminton, IN; 23 grandchildren, Adam, Jason, Crystal, Adrian, Braydon, Brittny, Kaleb, Sierra, Blaize, Josh, Cory, Craig, Tim, Terry, Tammy, Chad, Sammi Jo, Casandra, Matt, Ryan, Steven, Shane and Adriana; one great-grandchild, Indigo. He is further survived by two sisters, Nacha Lopez (Ramon) of Weslaco, TX and Elvira Marr of Flint, MI; three brothers, Pete Reyes (Mini Pearl) of Baldknob, AR, Ben Reyes of AR and Don Reyes (Darlene) of Fox Lake; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, a son, John Reyes, and two brothers, Roy and Felix Reyes.
Funeral service will be Thursday, August 3, 2000, at 1 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater with Reverend Tom Meyer officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 – 8:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon and again on Thursday, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. A memorial has been established.
