Joseph D. Kahl, age 73, of Redgranite, WI, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 1991, at his home.
He was born September 17, 1918, in Adams County, Indiana. He was the son of Joseph and Ida Mae (Mueller) Krick. Since the age of 10, Joe had lived with Ed and Minnie Kahl. They raised Joe and he became a member of their family. He attended schools in Indiana and Ripon. After a year at Ripon College he spent two more years at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He was self-employed building contractor for much of his life and retired as a building inspector, having served the Towns of Brown Deer, Oak Creek, Oconomowoc, and Beaver Dam.
On June 8, 1946, he married the former Joyce Page in Ripon. From then until 1973, they made their home in Ripon. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Ripon and past president of the South-East District Building Inspectors Association. He was a member of the South-East District Electrical Inspectors Association and past member of the Ripon Camera Club.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; six daughters, Rochelle (Bob) Chikowski of Berlin, Rita Stellmacher of Brooklyn Center, MN, Rhonda (Donald) Hiler of Minnetonka, MN, Rae Clare (Kent) Partain of Appleton, Ruth Mary (David) Joy of Tulsa, OK, and Renee Kahl of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren, Jay Chikowski, Tanya and Sara Stellmacher, Raechel, Sophia, and Adam Hiler, and Daniel and Laura Partain; two brothers, Paul Krick and Donal Krick, both of Ossian, IN; one sister, Alice Schollenbruch of Menticello, IA. He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and an infant son, Keith Joseph.
Services for Joseph Kahl will be held Monday, November 4, 1991 at 11:30 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. The Reverend Robert B. LeCount will officiate. Friends may call and share some time with the family from 3 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 1991 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and Monday, November 4, 1991, from 11:00 until the hour of services at the church. A memorial has been established for the church and Hospice Hope.
