Juanita Virginia Jahn

July 31, 1926 — June 16, 2015

Juanita Virginia Jahn, 88, of Ripon, died June 16, 2015 at Maplecrest in Ripon. She was born Juanita V. Rutz on July 31, 1926 to Anna M. (Berger) and Arnold R. Rutz in Milwaukee, and grew up in Horicon, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of Horicon High School. On November 3, 1945 she married Raymond R. Jahn in Lomira, Wisconsin. She and her husband lived most of their life in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, but moved to Ripon in 2006 to be closer to their daughter.

Juanita worked as a book keeper, store clerk, and homemaker. She had a life-long interest in various types of handiwork including sewing, needlepoint, embroidery, and quilting. She made many beautiful quilts for herself and her family. Her house in Fond du Lac was surrounded by the beautiful gardens she created. She also had a passion for cooking, making especially wonderful pies, and enjoyed collecting and reading cook books. Many hours of her life were spent listening to Wisconsin Public Radio. In later years she enjoyed playing folk music, especially Old Time, in a group called Ageless Harmony where she played guitar with her daughter on autoharp or mountain dulcimer, and her husband on washtub bass. She made many friends through music and enjoyed playing and singing in a good jam. After moving to Ripon she became a member of Science Club.

Surviving her are her daughter, Mary J. Park and son-in-law, Douglas H. Henkle, Ripon, Wisconsin; a niece, Joyce Jahn, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and two nephews, Ross Jahn, Nixa, Missouri, and Stanley (Linda) Jahn, Fond du Lac. Also step-grandsons Peter (Jessi) Henkle and Stephen Henkle, and step-granddaughter Elizabeth (Keith) Barzyk; and step-great granddaughters McKenna Barzyk and Jazlynn Henkle. Preceding her in death are her husband of 65 years, parents, and two sisters, Beatrice Jahn and Bertha Wieter Graff.

Per Juanita's wishes, there will be no service. Her ashes will be spread to join those of her husband, Raymond, overlooking Horicon Marsh. Memorials may be given in memory of Juanita to Wisconsin Public Radio, Wisconsin Public Radio Membership, 821 University Ave. Madison, WI 53706, Agnesian Hospice Hope, 745 South Street, Green Lake, WI 54941, or American Cancer Society, Midwest Division, N19 W24350 Riverwood Drive, Waukesha, WI 53188.
