Julia Ann Williams, age 88, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012, at Kindred Hearts in Green Lake with her family by her side.
Julia was born on March 15, 1924, in Nansemond County, VA, the daughter of Jodie Cleopas and Willie Elizabeth (Ramsey) Matthews. She graduated from Chuckatuck High School and went on to Elon University in North Carolina. On August 26, 1947, Julia married John Franklin Williams Jr. at Berea Congregational Church. She was employed at her familys farm; Bennetts Creek Farm Corporation and worked in all aspects of the farm. Julia was a past member of the Pilot Club, Driver Book Club and was the PTA President. She was a current member of both the Berea Congregational Church in Driver, VA and the Federated Church of Green Lake in Green Lake, WI.

Elizabeth (Steven) Hoecker of Phillips, WI and Dr. James (Karen) Williams of Green Lake, WI; grandchildren, Matthew (Wendy) Williams of Suffolk, VA, Daniel Williams of Zebulon, NC, Amy (Jason) Legg of Portsmouth, VA, Kevin (Melanie) Williams of Portsmouth, VA, John Hall of Clifton Forge, VA, Jenna (Cory) Stoughtenger of Ringle, WI, Allison (Michael) Gulati of Bethleham, PA, Justin (Hans) Williams of New York, NY, and Nicole Rasmussen of Green Lake, WI; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Victoria and Joshua Williams of Suffolk, VA, Lauren and Holden Williams of Zebulon, NC, Nathan and Tucker Legg of Portsmouth, VA, Connor Williams of Portsmouth, VA, Matthew and Jonathan Gulati of Bethleham, PA; sister, Rachel (Nelvin) Cooper of Cary, NC; sister-in-law, Phyllis Matthews of Suffolk, VA and brother-in-law, Edwin Atkinson of Chesterfield, MO and special friends, Heidi Dyer of Green Lake, WI and Tina Schultz of Green Lake, WI. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, James Franklin Matthews and Jodie Cleopas Matthews, Jr. and one sister, Marjorie Elizabeth Atkinson.
Visitation for Julia Williams will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012, from 2 4:00 pm at the Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI 54941.
Memorial service for Julia Williams will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at 4:00 pm at the Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI 549741. Reverend Karen Gygax-Rodriguez will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Meadowbrook Memorial in Suffolk, VA.
