Karen M. Johnson

Karen M. Johnson, age 81, of Markesan, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at ThedaCare Hospital in Berlin, WI.

Karen was born at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI on October 24, 1941, daughter of Eldred and Mary (Stafford) Hitzemann. She graduated from Markesan High School and went on to receive her nursing degree from the College of St. Theresa in Winona, MN. Karen had a long and fulfilling career as a registered nurse working well into her 70’s. She was passionate about music, taught piano for most of her life, and was instrumental in the Markesan Kiwanis Show for decades including playing for this year’s show. She touched many lives volunteering her time for countless community organizations.

Karen is survived by her four children and their families including 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and her devoted dog Ava.

Per Karen’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
