Kathryn Jean (Torke) Spencer, 75, of 470 Ernest St., Green Lake, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Appleton Medical Center, Appleton.
Known to many friends as Kathy, she was born on January 1, 1930, in Antigo, Langlade County, WI, the daughter of Ralph Leinbenstein and Edythe Josephine (Monette) Torke. As a young girl her parents moved to Green Lake, where she married and raised her family. Kathy managed the boutique at Heidel House Resort. She married Fred Spencer on March 22, 2004.
She is survived by children, Thea Louise Smith, Fond du Lac, Glen Gordon (Marian) Sommerfeldt, Green Lake, Karla Jean Jensen, Green Lake, Keith Avery Sommerfeldt, Brunswick, GA, and Kenneth Lee (Kim) Sommerfeldt, Johnsburg, IL; grandchildren, Steven (Courtney) OKeefe, Wausau, Sherman Smith, Fond du Lac, Lawrence Jensen III & Steven Jensen, Sioux City, IA, Jeffery & Daniel Sommerfeldt, Key West, FL, Chandler, Christian & Courtland Sommerfeldt. Johnsburg, IL; great-grandchild, Nolan OKeefe, Wausau. Also surviving are family members, Monette Alberts (the late Harry), Orland Park, IL, Yvonne (Ralph) Blanch, Snohomish, WA, David Torke, Boulder, CO, Joan Beem, Manhattan, KS, Barbara (Don) Granzow, Loveland, CO, John (Jennifer) Torke, Littleton, CO, Keith Torke, Centennial, CO, and Daniel Torke, Brighton, CO, and brother-in-law, Phil (Nancy) Spencer, Berlin. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Thea Louise Torke; brother, Ralph Torke; and former husbands, Kenneth Sommerfeldt and Herman Rasmussen.
The family, grieved by her untimely passing, wishes all to mourn for our mother only awhile, then smile/laugh as you remember time spent with her. We will miss her greatly, yet thankfully, we are left with so many wonderful memories of this sincere, caring, generous, loving woman. Respecting Kathryns wishes, cremation has taken place with private family services to take place at a later date.
