Ken Cartier

Ken Cartier, age 84, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon after a four month illness.

Ken was born on December 30, 1927, in Green Bay, WI, the son of Earl and Evelyn (Fontaine) Cartier. After graduating from Green Bay West, Ken served two years in the U.S. Navy, then attended U.W. Green Bay and graduated from Lake Forest College in 1952. He married Barbara “Bobbie” Anunson on February 16, 1952. Ken was a member of the Methodist Church his entire life and served on various committees through the years. He enjoyed Musky fishing, Down-Hill Skiing, playing Bridge, caring for his lawn and flowers, spending time at the family cottage on Little St. Germain, the Masonic Lodge, and wintering in Florida. He was on many local boards including the Ripon Hospital Board, the Ripon Savings and Loan Board, and the Ripon School Board. Ken retired from Ripon College after 32 years as the Vice President of Finance.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Barbara “Bobbie” of Ripon, WI; their children, Kerry (Jennifer) Cartier and Joel Cartier; his grandchildren, Chad, Amy, Katrina, Patrick, Jacquelin, Amii and son-in-law, Gregg Chatterson; his sister, Joyce DeNamur and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Calvin (Dorothy) and Merlin (Jeanne) and his beloved daughter, Jill Chatterson.

A memorial service for Ken Cartier will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 4:00 pm at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971. Pastor Joshua Pegram will officiate. A memorial is being established.
