Kenneth P. Gitzel

Kenneth “Ken” P. Gitzel, age 77, of Ripon, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at his home in Ripon.

Ken was born in Ripon on September 15, 1947, son of Leon and Lillian (Foster) Gitzel. He graduated from Ripon High School, continued his education in Costa Mesa, CA, and received his master’s degree in Oshkosh, WI. Ken was an elementary school teacher in Ripon for many years. On June 19, 1982 he married Susan Prochnow, and they spent 42 great years together and traveled the world. Ken had a passion for cooking and baking, even from a young age. More than anything he enjoyed time spent with his loving family.

Ken is survived by his wife, Susan Gitzel of Ripon; a brother, David Gitzel of Ripon, WI; sister, Diane (James) Fiddler of Albuquerque, NM; a beloved godson, Ryan (Katie) Van Scyoc and their son, Ryker; beloved goddaughter, Rebekah (Jonathan) Lehman and their children, Josiah, Aubryn, Jon and Adalyn; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Lillian Gitzel; and a sister-in-law, Jennifer Gitzel.

Per Ken’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
