Kenneth Sather, age 68, of Ripon, WI, founder of Sather Cookie Company, died Thursday morning, March 30, 1988, at West Bend.
Mr. Sather was the founder of Sather Cookie Company, Round Lake, Minnesota, and was credited an innovator of packaged pegboard candy, which is the industrys main marketing program today.
Mr. Sather founded the cookie company in the early 1940s and guided its growth from a local cookie distributor in a prominent national manufacturer and marketer of confectionary and snack products. In addition to the Round Lake plant, the Sather Company has plants in Chattanooga, TN and New Orleans, LA, serving customers nationwide with Sathers fleet of trucks. Mr. Sather served as the companys chairman of the board from October 1980 until his retirement in January 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Ripon; and two daughters, MaryAnn Sodemann and Barbara Hansen, both of Round Lake; four sons, Duane, John, Larry and Rodney, all of Round Lake; and stepchildren, Jeff Bumby of Ripon, Edward Bumby of Green Lake, William Bumby of Los Angles and Sarah Colonna of St. Helena, CA.
Memorial Services will be held at Tuesday, April 5, 1988, at 10:00 am in the First Presbyterian church in Round Lakes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to either Alzheimers Disease Association, of 8053 E. Bloomington Freeway, Suite 114, Bloomington, MN 55420 or to the Audubon Society in care of Tom McGuiggan, Minnespolis, MN 55414.
