Kristopher John Greening, age 15, of Ripon, was taken by the Lord on Sunday, November 2, 1997 at Ripon Medical Center, Ripon as a result of a car accident.
Kris was born December 9, 1981, in West Allis, and has lived in Ripon since 1983. Kris was a high honors student throughout his school years, and was very active in many school activities. He was a student council member, a member of the basketball team, and lettered in both cross country and track as a freshman. He was a 1997, Cross Couintry Second Team All-Conference selection, and a proud member of this years state Runner-up Cross Country team. He was a member of the 1996, Homecoming court, and a class representative in ACTIVO, which is a group of high school students who work to plan activities to promote a drug and alcohol free environment. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Ripon. Kris will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his parents, Kathy and Dave Greening and his sister, Amanda, of Ripon; grandparents, Lucy Meyer, and Pat and Jack Greening of Antigo, and Ed Mock; and aunts and uncles, Pete and Carol Hendricks and cousins, Melanie and Jacklyn of Stevens Point, Todd and Julie Samolinski and cousin, Alexa of Antigo, Tom and Cathy Meyer and cousins, Aaron and Patrick of DeForest, Bill and Jean Greening and cousins, Eric, Scott and Nicholas of Antigo, Dick and Sandy Greening and cousins, Jamie and Brett of Antigo; and Barb and Randy Mueller and cousin, Danny of Wausau, and aunt, Jackie Greening of Neenah. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Meyer and a cousin, Bradley Greening.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 4, 1997, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Ripon with Father William L. Toelle officiating. A Memorial Service will be held for friends and classmates on Tuesday, November 4, 1997, at 1 PM at the Ripon High School gymnasium. The family will receive friends at the high school from 12:15 PM until the time of the service at the gymnasium. Following the Memorial Service, there will also be a time of visitation with the family. A Memorial has been established in his name.
