La Verna Gozinske

LaVerna S.Gozinske, 94, of Maplecrest Manor Assisted Living, Ripon, passed away on May 13, 2009, at Ripon Medical Center.
She was born August 29, 1914, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of the late John L. and Anna Mohr Staples. She attended Fond du Lac Senior High School and graduated with high honors in January, 1931. She was a loyal, faithful and dedicated employee of Doctor T. A. Hardgrove, a renowned oral surgeon in Fond du Lac, from January 1931 until the time of her marriage to Frank Thomas Gozinske of Ripon on October 29, 1938. They were blessed with 44 years of married life until Mr. Gozinske passed away on December 15, 1982. LaVerna served as a secretary in the Green Lake school system for 9 years, and then became an administrative secretary in the Ripon Elementary schools for 26 years until her retirement in June, 1985. Since that time she was a volunteer secretary in St. Patrick School until its closure. LaVerna has been a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (St. Patrick Catholic Church) in Ripon since her marriage in 1938, being active in both the church and school -a member of its Altar Society, chairperson and member of the Church Council during 1985-1987. She is also a past officer of the Ripon Business and Professional Women's Club, and the Roosevelt P.T.O. She served on the Ripon Public Library Board from 1968-1977 during which time the present library was built.
One son, Tom and daughter-in-law Melissa of Beaver Dam, survive besides her sister Betty (Rudy) Feucht of Tucson, Arizona; and a number of nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, four sisters and one brother preceded her in death. Tom and Melissa would like to thank special friend, Carol Kimball, who has been by her side to provide assistance, and to the staff of Maplecrest and Ripon Medical Center for the care given to mom.
There will be no visitation or Mass. A Graveside service will be held on Friday May 15, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 218 Blossom St. Ripon, WI 54971.
