Laurence Harder

March 22, 1912 — August 10, 1989

Laurence “Butch” Harder, 77, of 200 W. Lane St., Ripon, died Thursday, August 10, 1989, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.

He was born March 22, 1912, in Green Lake County, to Richard and Amanda Krentz Harder. He married Gladys Beuthin on December 25, 1937. She preceded him in death on May 22, 1967. He then married Phyllis Zuege on January 20, 1968.

Mr. Harder was employed by Condons until his retirement in 1874. He was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon and of the Ushers Club and Church Dartball Team. He was a past member of the Ripon Lions Club, a member of the National Rifle Association and the National Wildlife Federation.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis “Pat”; three sons, Douglas of Ripon, Darrell of Lake Forest, IL and Todd of Ripon; one daughter, Deanna Gehrke of Ripon; four step-sons, Wayne Zuege of Oshkosh, Dale Zuege of Oconto, Lee Zuege of Beloit and Russell Zuege of Port Huron, MI and 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. The Reverend Harley C.W. Tretow will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon.

Friends may call Sunday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. A memorial in his name has been established.
