Lawrence (Larry) J. Hilke, 74, of Ripon, died Thursday afternoon, October 10, 2002, at Ripon Medical Center, Ripon.
Lawrence was born May 5, 1928, in Green Lake, the son of the late Fred and Lillian (Schultz) Hilke. He married Ruthmary Wastrack in May 1948, and she died in May 1993. Lawrence worked for 36 years at Speed Queen. In May 1994, he married Lenora Kloehn. He played on numerous dart ball leagues, was an avid hunter, and bowled on the Green Lake and Ripon Senior Leagues. His favorite hobbies were blue gill fishing and picking hickory nuts. Mr. Hilke was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Ripon, and a member of the Mens Club for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Lenora; 1 son, Robert (Caryl) Hilke of Ripon; 2 daughters, Kate Wickens of Billings, MO and Mary (Fred) Busse of Appleton; 4 grandchildren, Kelly Hilke, Steve, Dennis & Jeff Busse; 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jasmine & Justin Busse and Kyle Hilke; 1 stepson, Steven Kloehn of Waukau; 1 brother, Gene (Barb) Hilke of Markesan; and 1 sister, Gustie (Russell) Schultz of Fox Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son-in-law, Steven Wickens; and 1 brother, Edward.
Funeral service for Lawrence J. Hilke will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2002, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Mose officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon and again on Monday 1 hour prior to the church service. Interment will be in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. Memorials to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.
