Lawrence William Hunter, 78, peacefully passed away Friday, June 23, 2000, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon. He was born February 3, 1922 in the Town of Utica, a son of the late William Emory and Marguerite (Riesenweber) Hunter. On October 14, 1944, he married Evelyn Esther Meyer and they lived and farmed side-by-side in the Town of Utica. Lawrence also sold Dekalb seed corn until he retired. Lawrence was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pickett. Lawrence loved God, his wife, and family, and enjoyed traveling and seeing the sights, whether just to the Pickett Co.op or as far as Hawaii.
Lawrence Hunter is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his four sons:
Edward (Cynthia) Hunter of Pickett, Jack (Pamela) Hunter of Prior Lake, Bruce (Wendy) Hunter of Friendswood, Texas, and Charles Hunter of Pickett. His grandchildren: Kelly (Darryl) Hielke, Kevin Hunter, Jill (John) Nigl, Bradley, Michael, Lissa Hunter, Melissa (Eddie) Hovorka, Timothy Hunter, David and Andrew Hunter; his great-grandchildren: Ashley, Kayla, David, and Dylan Hielke, and Tyler and Zachary Nigi. His brothers, Thomas of Beloit, WI. and Donald (Audrey) Hunter of Walhalla, South Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Hunter, and sister, Katherine Bean.
Funeral services for Lawrence Hunter will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pickett with Rev. Russell Kloehn officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Prairie Cemetery, Town of Utica, Pickett. Friends may call at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2000, or at the church from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of services. A memorial is established in his name in lieu of flowers.
