LCDR James Woodrow Grim, USN, age 78, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014, at his home with his family by his side.

James was born January 3, 1936, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Woodrow and Geneva (Dunnington) Grim. He graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee and attended the University of La Crosse for two years where he met and married Roxana Thrall in Green Lake. James enlisted in the Navy and commissioned as an officer. He went on to further his education by graduating from Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. After retiring from the Navy, after 23 years, he was the Vice President of accounting at the Green Lake Conference Center in Green Lake. James was a member of the Green Lake Willis-Chapel Legion Post #306 and President of Rotary International from 1983 to 1984. He was an active member of The Federated Church of Green Lake holding the Treasurer position for 23 years. James loved his family and every day of their lives, he supported them, provided for them and always did his very best.

Survivors include his mother, Geneva Grim of Green Lake, WI; his wife of 58 years, Roxana Grim of Green Lake, WI; five children, Belinda Weber of Delafield, WI, Timothy (Barb) Grim of Green Lake, Janet (Ron) Kamys of Oregon and Meade (Julie) Grim of Green Lake, WI; six grandchildren, Cassy (Garrick) Van Dyke, Orion (Amy) Barbic, Matthew, Trevor, Cody and Amber Grim and six great-grandchildren, Andra, Penny, Rory, Liam, Natalie and Julian. James was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Grim; son, Matthew Grim and one sister, Janet (Lee) Behling.

Visitation for LCDR James W. Grim, USN, will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, from 9 – 11:00 am at The Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI 54941.

Funeral service for LCDR James W. Grim, USN, will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11:00 am at The Federated Church of Green Lake in Green Lake. Reverend Karen Gygax Rodriguez will officiate. Interment will follow at Bluffton Cemetery in the Town of Brooklyn with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name.
