Leo J. Callan, age 95, of the Town of Springvale, Ripon, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 1991, at his home.
Leo was born March 24, 1896, in the Town of Springvale, a son of John and Agatha (Gritzmacher) Callan. He married Eleanor Havey in 1925.
He owned and operated Callan Poultry Farm and Hatchery since 1929 and sold feed and seed. He also sold insurance. Mr. Callan was a Charter member of the Ripon Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Wenceslaus Church.
He is survived by two sons, James and John both of Ripon; six granddaughters: Peggy Schultz of Portland, OR, Patricia Dennis, Kathryn Callan, Mary Shawn Callan, and Shannon Callan all from California and Kerry Ingraham of Cedarburg, WI; one grandson, Kevin John Callan of Madison, WI; two great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call Monday, October 28, 1991, from 3:30 p.m. until the hour of service at the church only.
Mass of Christian Burial for Leo J. Callan will begin at 5:00 p.m., Monday, October 28, 1991, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Ripon. The Reverend William L. Toelle will officiate. Interment will be in St. Marys Springvale Cemetery, Town of Springvale. A memorial has been established in his name.
