Leon Paul Schroeder, age 66, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015, at his home.
Leon was born October 9, 1949, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Bernard L. and Bernice A. (Schmidt) Schroeder. He graduated from Green Lake High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree entering college at UW-Madison and graduating at UW-Oshkosh. In 1976, Leon married Gail A. Meyers in Green Lake. He purchased Schroeder’s Liquor & Sports Shop (later North Bay Sport & Liquor) in Green Lake from his father and after selling his interest in the shop, worked in the Engineering Department at Heidel House. After retiring, Leon drove school bus Ripon part time. Leon was a member of the Lawsonia Monday Night Golf League, Ducks Unlimited and the Wisconsin Conservation Congress.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Schroeder of Green Lake, WI; brother, Kenneth (Brigitte) Schroeder of Apalachicola, FL; brother-in-law, William (Julia) Meyers of Sturgeon Bay, WI and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Bernice; parents-in-law, Harold and Anne Meyers, nephew, Thomas Schroeder, brother-in-law, James Meyers and aunts and uncles.
Visitation for Leon will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 followed by a brief funeral service.
A private interment will take place at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. Memorials may be directed to Heartland Chapter Ducks Unlimited, P.O. Box 372, Ripon, WI 54971 or GLCC/Golf Courses of Lawsonia, W2511 State Road 23, Green Lake, WI 54941.
