Leonard Theodore Hamie Hamberger, 75, of Ripon, died Thursday evening, March 1, 2001, at Ripon Medical Center.
He was born March 16, 1925, in Ripon, a son to Theodore and Helen (Keehi) Hamberger. After attending Ripon High School, Leonard served his country during WWll in the US Army. He held the rank of Private First Class in the 69th Chemical Warfare Co, and was a 4-time recipient of the Bronze Star. On October 22, 1949, he married Marion Hoffman, and she preceded him in death on November 7, 1999. Leonard had been a machinist at Speed Queen for over 32 years, was a member of the 25-year Club, and past officer of Local Union #1327. He also was a member of the Ripon V.F.W and the D.A.V. of Oshkosh, and Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon.
He is survived by his sister, Adaila Krueger of Ripon; niece, Charlett (Chris) Wiegand of Ripon; nephew, Carleton (Christine) Krueger of Ripon; great-nieces & nephews; sister-in-law, Sylvia Napstad of Chicago; and special friends, Richard and Dolores Sell of Brandon. His parents; wife, Marion; 2 brothers, William and Clarence; and 1 infant sister preceded him in death
Funeral service for Leonard Hamie Hamberger will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home. The Reverend Gerald Schrankler will officiate, and interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, where a V.F.W Service will follow at 7 p.m.
