Leroy Nance

LeRoy “Roy” Nance, age 87, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015, after a brief stay at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon, WI.

Roy was born October 10, 1928, in Buck Grove, IA, the son of Harley and Nellie (Bruce) Nance. Upon graduating from high school, Roy proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years. On August 2, 1969, he married Geraldine Thomsen in Des Moines, IA. Roy and Gerry lived for many years in Des Moines, IA, where Roy was an application engineer. He first worked for Green Colonial and then moved on to L&L Insulation. Roy was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing. Roy and Gerry were both members of the Urbandale Golf and Country Club where they enjoyed many good times with their numerous friends. Upon retiring in 1990, Roy and Gerry moved to Lakeland, FL, where they resided at Cypress Lakes Community. They enjoyed many years there and did a whole lot of golfing and entertaining. They developed many close friendships with their fellow neighbors. In 2010, Roy and Gerry moved to Green Lake, WI, to be close to their family in the area. During the last five years of his life Roy enjoyed sharing his life experiences and stories with his family. One of his favorite things to do was to take rides out in the country and stopping for his favorite steak sandwich. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Nance of Green Lake, WI, children, Cassandra Justus of Fort Atkinson, WI, Sandy Thiem of Green Lake, WI, Joy (Larry) Larson, Bud (Lynn) Thomsen, Russ (Polly) Thomsen, and Bill Thomsen all of North Carolina; grandchildren, Nicholas (Sharon) Riemer, Jina Witkins Hilsenhoff, James (Tammy) Thiem, Jennifer (Kelly) Voeltner, Matthew (Jeni) Thiem, Brian (Karla) Thiem, Tony (Kristin) Robinson, Shawn Thomsen, Kim (Jeremy) Robinson, Jeremiah Thomsen, Jasmine (John) Metcalf, Cara Thomsen, Benjamin Thomsen, Lori (Mike) Cook, Paula (Bobby) Thomsen, Michael (Tammy) Waltenberry, Lisa (Ron) Zamzow, Jeff Waltenberry, and Sheila Thomsen. Roy is further survived by many great grandchildren, nieces; Marsha Nance, Peggy Nance and Bea (Red) McLain and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and his sister, grandsons, Thomas Hilsenhoff and Brian Hilsenhoff; son in-law, Donnie Thiem, daughters, Karen and Valerie Thomsen and great grandson, Dylan Thiem.

Per Roy’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation will take place.
