Leslie "Les" Wood

Leslie “Les” F. Wood, age 53, of Ripon, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah with his family at his side.
Les was born in Ripon on September 13, 1954, the son of Milton and Dorothy (Wilhelms) Wood. He graduated from Ripon High School, and worked in the welding department at Magnum Products in Berlin. On September 13, 1996 Les married Pat Wrzinski at his parents’ home. Les was a member and past president of the Ripon Lions Club, and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow, and was a member of the NRA. He was an avid gardener and Packer fan; he enjoyed cooking and baking cakes for his family, friends and day care birthday parties. Les loved his grandson Chandler dearly, and planning a menu for his weekly Packer parties, camping with his wife, Chandler and nephew Adrian, as well as friends. He was a giving and caring person in life and in death by giving the gift of life thru organ donation. Pat and Les through Small World Day Care have touched the lives of many children and their parents. He will always be known to them as “uncle Les”.
Survivors include his wife Pat Wood of Ripon, one son, Adam (Leslie) Wood of Ripon, one daughter, Kim Wood of Tomah, and one grandson, Chandler of Ripon. Les is also survived by his father, Milton Wood of Ripon, one sister, Linda (Fred) Neuenfeldt of Ripon, one brother, Dave (Kaye) Wood of Ripon, a special sister, Yukiko of Japan, sister-in-law, Lori (Harry) Christensen of Princeton, brother-in-laws, Hank (Beryl) Wrzinski of Ripon and Joe (Sue) Wrzinski of Ripon, aunts, uncles, and many nieces and nephews. Les was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Wood, in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Wrzinski, brother-in-law, Alvin Immel, and one nephew, Matthew Wood.
A Special Children’s Visitation will be held from 2-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
Visitation for Leslie “Les” Wood will be held from 3-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday, March 3, 2008 at St. Catherine’s of Siena Catholic Church at 415 E. Fond du Lac St. in Ripon.
Mass of Christian Burial for Leslie Wood will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008 at St. Catherine’s of Siena Catholic Church at 415 E. Fond du Lac St. Ripon, with Reverend Robert A. Fictum officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
