Lester Edward Lundt, age 87, formerly of Green Lake, died Monday, April 15, 2002 at Juliette Manor Nursing Home in Berlin after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 20, 1915 in the Town of Wyoming, Waupaca County to Otto and Wilhemine (Pingel) Lundt. He married Winifred Kersten on February 10, 1940 in Split Rock, WI. Winifred died on September 19, 1991.
Lester served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1945 in the Pacific Theatre. After returning from service, he was employed by Marion Hardware in Marion, WI. Lester moved to Green Lake, WI in 1952, opening Lundts Hardware Store, where he also did furnace installation and sheet metal and electrical work until retirement in 1977.
Lester was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Green Lake, serving as an usher and councilman. He was also a member of the Green Lake American Legion Post 306, and a past member of the Green Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Wisconsin Retail Hardware Association.
Lester is survived by 4 sons, Wayne (Bonnie) of Berlin, Dale (Karen) of Mayville, Tom (Wendy) of Shawano, and Joel (Karen) of Oshkosh; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Floyd Lundt of Stillwater, MN and Warner (Barbara) Lundt of Appleton; 3 sisters, Silvia Krohn of Antigo, Nettie Seefeldt of Tigerton, and Vera Kuhn of Kaukauna; 1 sister-in-law, Melda Kersten of Clintonville; 1 brother-in-law, Wallace Kersten of Tigerton, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Winifred; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Elaine Lundt; 3 brothers, Clarence, Earl and Irvin Lundt; and 1 sister, Clara Kuhn.
Funeral service for Lester Edward Lundt will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rodney Dietsche officiating. Interment will be in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
