Lila Grimm

Lila L. Grimm, age 96, of Ripon, (formerly of Rapid City, South Dakota) passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011, at Prairie Place in Ripon where she moved to be closer to her family.
She was born May 12, 1915, in Mitchell, South Dakota, the daughter to Edwin and Stena (Hauge) Haugen. Lila graduated from Rapid City High School in 1933. During WWII, she worked at Douglas Aircraft and Rapid City Air force Base putting external accessories on B-17 engines. Lila married Roy Shy in 1935, she then later married Ralph Grimm in 1946. She was a charter member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Rapid City, South Dakota. Lila also was on a bowling league in Rapid City.
Survivors include her two sons, James (Alice) Shy of Berlin, WI and Ronald (Celeste) Grimm of AK; eight grandchildren, Tim Cline of TX, Tama Wilson of AZ, Michelle Adams of AZ, Michael Adams of TX, Laura Funk of WI, Deborah Koehler of WI, Cynthia Harder of IL and Matthew Grimm of SD; and several great and great-great-grandchildren. Lila was further survived by two sisters, Lucille Lonnecker and De Ell Clark. Lila was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Faye; husband, Ralph; grandson, Daniel Cline; brother, Norton and sister, Eileen.
Memorial service for Lila Grimm will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 11:00 am at Atonement Lutheran Church, 602 Auburn Dr., Rapid City, SD 57701-9577. Pastor Jon Mapa will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Blackhills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
