Lillie Towne, age 96, of Ripon, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Juliette Manor.
Lillie Towne was born on May 8, 1910, in Ripon, the daughter of Albert and Laura (Driesner) Radke. She grew up on a farm outside of Ripon and graduated from Ripon High School. She then graduated from Normal School in Fond du Lac and taught several years in rural schools in the Ripon area. On June 14, 1936, she married George Towne from Waupun and they moved to Tampa, FL where George taught. They later lived in Ohio for several years before moving back to Wisconsin where they lived out the remainder of their lives. Lillie was a devoted mother and homemaker and did a considerable amount of church work at Our Saviours United Church of Christ when she was younger. She was baptized, confirmed and married in that church. She also worked at the Campbell store in Ripon for many years.
Survivors include daughter, Gale (Dale) Pankratz of Berlin; granddaughters, Lisa (Jonathan) Yackel of Madison and Jill Niedfeldt of Fond du Lac; 6 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Sophia, Oliver and Henry Yackel and Laura and Madelyn Niedfeldt and brother, Wilbert Radke of Ripon. Lillie is preceded in death by her parents, husband George, sister Emma and 2 brothers, Leo and Reinhard.
Visitation for Lillie Towne will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2006 from 9-10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon.
Funeral Service for Lillie Towne will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Saviours United Church of Christ with Reverend Gerald Schrankler officiating. Interment will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Ripon. A memorial has been established.
