Loretta A. Kastenschmidt, age 87, of Markesan, WI, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014, with family by her side.
Loretta was born December 1, 1926, at home in the Township of Green Lake, the daughter of John and Mamie (Schmuhl) Laper. She graduated from Markesan High School. In 1944, Loretta married Edward Kastenschmidt in Fairwater. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, volunteering her time in the Zion Lutheran Church Women and Quilting group. Loretta also loved to play cards and was an active member of several groups.
Survivors include her four children, Larry (Bev) Kastenschmidt of Ripon, WI, Dennis (Shannon Bye) Kastenschmidt of Monticello, MN, Glen (Carla) Kastenschmidt of Brandon, WI and Sharon (Ted) Hankes of Beaver Dam, WI; 14 grandchildren, Brian (Kimberly) Kastenschmidt, Doug (Micki) Kastenschmidt, Travis Kastenschmidt, Kent (Jessica) Kastenschmidt, Derek (Shelly) Kastenschmidt, Emily (Tim) Powers, David Kastenschmidt, Chad (Cally) Kastenschmidt, Trisha (Chad) Lozier, Kylee (Travis) Ernst, Carmen (Phil) Laper, Isaac (Samantha) Hankes, Joseph (Shaina) Hankes and Ruth Hankes; 21 great-grandchildren, Mariah (Kyle), Makena, Brennen, Jadelyn and Drake Kastenschmidt, Nate Kastenschmidt, Jake and Ryan Caswell, Drew, Carly and Brett Kastenschmidt, Brady and Violet Powers, Payton and Cooper Kastenschmidt, Landen Lozier, Kamdyn and Tristyn Ernst and Parker, Jersi and Quinn Laper; one sister, Donna Moldenhauer of Markesan, WI. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mamie Laper; husband, Edward; infant son, daughter-in-law, Karen Kastenschmidt; two brothers, John and Ralph Laper; and sister, Sylvia Lieske.
Visitation for Loretta will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 9 -11:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church St., Fairwater, WI 53931.
Funeral service for Loretta will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at 11:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater. Pastor Shari Routh will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairwater Cemetery in the Village of Fairwater. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church St., Fairwater, WI 53931 or Generations Home Care and Hospice, 1028 South Main St., C, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
