Louis Henry Hielsberg, age 85, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 1991, at Ripon Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 28, 1906, in Ripon, to Henry and Minna (Press) Hielsberg. He grew up in the Ripon area, and met and married Norma Traugott on June 17, 1934. They had two children, Joan and John. Louie worked 29 years at the Wisconsin Power and Light Company in Ripon where he was a meter reader and district storesman.
Louis enjoyed boating and year-round fishing on Green Lake. He also spent many happy hours talking with friends, making his grandchildren laugh and caring for his dog, Susie. Louie loved to garden and was known for his special fruits/vegetables and great dill pickles, pizzas and cinnamon rolls. His kindness, generosity, and unassuming lifestyle touched all who came in contact with him. Our lives are richer for having known him, and we will miss him.
Louis is survived by his wife, Norma, of Ripon; one daughter, Joan (Arthur) Foeste of Madison; one son, John of Iola; six grandchildren- Kathy, Sheri, Aaron, Jessica, Troy, and Heather; one great-grandson, Cody; and four siblings- Kurt, Gertrude, Armin, and Orin. He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings- Florence, Harold, Bernice, Henry, Leonard, and Karl; and his daughter-in-law, Dee.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 4, 1991, at 2:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with the Reverend Dean Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Friends may call on Sunday, November 3, 1991 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to support Alzheimers research and Hospice Hope.
